Rebecca McDaniel, MSW, LMSW
Hi, I’m Rebecca. I specialize in helping young adults and adults navigate anxiety, perfectionism, burnout, relationship concerns, and major life changes. I particularly enjoy working with clients who feel stuck between where they are and where they thought they would be. That can look like questioning a career, navigating a relationship, feeling burned out, or simply wondering, “What am I doing with my life?”
I bring over 15 years of experience working with individuals across many diverse mental health settings. I draw primarily from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), tailoring our work to your individual needs. I want to understand the patterns that have shaped how you think, feel, and relate to others, while also helping you develop concrete skills to create meaningful change. My goal isn’t simply to help you feel better in the moment, but rather to help you better understand yourself so you can navigate future challenges with greater confidence and flexibility. Together, we’ll explore the patterns that may be keeping you stuck, clarify what matters most to you, and develop tools to help you move forward with greater confidence and intention.
My interest in life transitions is also personal. I began my career in advertising before making a major career change and returning to graduate school to pursue social work. I’ve moved across the country, lived in big cities and the mountains of North Carolina, and eventually returned to Grand Rapids, Michigan. These experiences have given me firsthand insight into the uncertainty, identity shifts, and growth that often come with major change.
I earned my master’s degree in Social Work from the University of Illinois at Chicago. I completed an advanced fellowship in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Dialectical Behavior Therapy at the University of Chicago. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Michigan, Illinois, and North Carolina.
If you’re feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or unsure of what comes next, I’d love to help you figure it out.
